Art To Frames How-To Series

Description:

Art To Frames needed a fun and fresh way to present what might be boring information. What are the kinds of options available when picking a picture frame, and which ones are right for me? Most people didn't even know that things like UV Glass and Matting exist, let alone their benefits. So the goal was to educate customers on what choices are available, what they mean, and how they can be sure they're ordering something they'll be happy with.

Reducing the return rate, up-selling on features, and building brand value were all goals we set out to achieve. This series represented the beginning steps to creating solid branding through video in a way that's entertaining and shareable.

What I learned doing this:

Condensing what could be hours of how-to into a 30 second or 1 minute video is really tough. You could create an hour long video on mat selection alone and not even scratch the surface what the products can do. We did a lot edits and re-edits to nail down just the right mix that was fun and short but still useful and informative. Balance is important.

Tempus Smartwatch

Description:

A simple April Fool's prank written, shot, and edited in 3 days. The goal was to fool some of our customers into thinking we had exclusive deal with a hot new tech item available nowhere else. We kept the production dead simple, did it with next to no resources, and made sure to include lots of little "tells" and humor to keep it lively.

What I learned doing this:

I learned that story-boarding and scripting by committee can be an arduous process. I learned that I need much more than one light to get decent illumination on a talking head. I also learned that teleprompters and good PAs are invaluable.
